Kylo 0.6.1.70394
Kylo is a free browser based on Mozilla Firefox and specially designed for use with the latest generation of TVs.
Connecting your computer to a television screen can be a very good idea when it comes to watching movies or playing video games. However, surfing the Internet is often disappointing characters too small to read from afar, must use a keyboard, etc..
Fortunately the developers Kylo began to work to give us a satisfactory Web experience, comfortably installed in our couch.
Installing Kylo poses no particular problem. Only requirement, your display must support the display HDTV resolution (1280 by 720).
Kylo starts and is used exclusively in full screen mode. No trace of the ancestry of Firefox in the interface: it has been completely redesigned.
A large toolbar at the bottom of the screen displays the navigation buttons (previous page, next page, reload the page and start page), an address bar, a button to add page to favorites and seen for another search.
Just above, there is a button to navigate between different pages open access to the keyboard, the controls for the level of magnification and a button to exit the browser and access the options.
As soon as you click in the address bar or a text entry field, the keyboard is extended and occupies half the screen. Less convenient than a traditional keyboard, it is quite sufficient for seizures off and allows to use only the mouse or other pointing device.
To facilitate access to the Web, offers a menu Kylo classified by themes, with direct access to sites like YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook or MySpace. When the selected site has a special version for television (as YouTubeHD example) it is displayed directly.
Kylo has no problems with Flash websites and does not differ significantly from Firefox for speed and display quality. The zoom controls are more practical to enlarge the text too small. However, the navigation controls to move through portions of enlarged pages have not worked in our tests. Perhaps a lack of youth.
Finally, options are few but sufficient. You can set the start page, the download directory, settings of the protection of privacy or finely adjust the position of the window on the screen.
